Center Yourself with the Main Central

Ground and harmonize your core energy flow for deep balance

12 minutes

Positioning

Lie on your back on a comfortable surface. Use a pillow under your head if needed. Allow your arms to rest loosely at your sides. You will be placing your fingertips lightly on specific points along the center line of your body — no pressure is needed.

Steps

  1. 1

Top of Head and Bridge of Nose

Place your right fingertips lightly on the very top of your head (the crown). Place your left fingertips at the bridge of your nose, between your eyebrows. Breathe naturally. Hold until you feel a gentle pulse or warmth under your fingers, or for 2 to 3 minutes. This first position connects the crown to the center of the face and begins to draw energy down the Main Central pathway.

  2. 2

    Bridge of Nose and Sternum

Keep your right hand on the top of the head. Move your left fingertips to the upper sternum — the area of the thymus, just below the collarbone notch. Hold for 2 to 3 minutes. Notice your breath beginning to deepen and slow naturally.

  3. 3

    Sternum and Base of Sternum

Keep your right hand on the crown. Move your left fingertips to the base of the sternum — the xiphoid process, just above the solar plexus. Hold for 2 to 3 minutes. You may notice warmth or a sense of release in the middle of the body.

  4. 4

    Base of Sternum and Navel

Keep your right hand on the crown. Move your left fingertips to the navel. Hold for 2 to 3 minutes. The navel is one of the most grounding points on the body. Many people feel a settling or deepening here.

  5. 5

    Navel and Pubic Bone

Keep your right hand on the crown. Move your left fingertips to the top of the pubic bone. Hold for 2 to 3 minutes. This position anchors the energy drawn down from the crown into the base of the body.

  6. 6

    Closing — Coccyx

Finally, slide your right hand from the crown to rest under the base of the spine — the coccyx or tailbone. Keep your left hand on the pubic bone. Hold for 2 to 3 minutes. This completes the grounding arc of the Main Central.

Closing

Remain still for a moment before getting up. The Main Central is the source of all other energy flows in Jin Shin Jyutsu. Even practicing only the first position — crown and bridge of nose — for the full duration can be deeply restorative. Trust what feels right for you.
