Astrology for Self-Awareness
Astrology links mental and psychological cycles with those found in nature. When we follow these ebbs and flows, the need to hustle diminishes.
Positioning
Lie down on your back on a comfortable surface. Use a pillow under your knees if needed. Allow your arms to rest at your sides, palms facing up. Cover yourself with a blanket if you tend to get cold.
Steps
-
1
Settle and Breathe (2 minutes)
Close your eyes. Take five deep breaths, allowing your body to sink into the surface beneath you. Release any effort to hold yourself up.
-
2
Feet and Legs (3 minutes)
Bring awareness to your feet. Notice any sensations—temperature, tingling, pressure. Move up to your calves, then thighs. If you notice tension, breathe into that area and imagine it softening like ice melting.
-
3
Pelvis and Lower Back (2 minutes)
Scan your pelvis, hips, and lower back. These areas often hold stored stress and emotion. Breathe deeply into your belly, allowing it to rise and fall naturally. Let your lower back release into the ground.
-
4
Abdomen and Chest (3 minutes)
Notice your belly and chest. Feel your breath moving through these spaces. If emotions arise, allow them. Breathe through any tightness, visualizing it dissolving with each exhale.
-
5
Arms and Hands (2 minutes)
Scan each arm from shoulder to fingertips. Notice if you're gripping or holding. Let your hands become heavy and relaxed, palms open to release any energy that's ready to leave.
-
6
Neck, Jaw, and Face (2 minutes)
Bring attention to your neck, jaw, temples, and forehead. These areas carry enormous tension. Soften your tongue away from the roof of your mouth. Let your facial muscles go slack.
-
7
Full Body Integration (2-3 minutes)
Scan your entire body from feet to crown in one smooth wave of attention. Notice the overall sense of relaxation. Imagine any remaining tension flowing out through your feet into the earth.
Closing
Take three full breaths. Begin to wiggle your fingers and toes. Roll to one side and rest for a few moments before slowly sitting up. Move mindfully as you return to your day.
